David's Harp...

Did you know, Harps often are associated with angels and other divine beings?  keep that in mind as you read on.

Sometime last week on my way home, i was talking to the Holy Spirit which i do alot especially in matatus, He makes me marvel everytime. Anyway, i asked, what was on his mind, interestingly enough, 1 Samuel 16:14- 23 popped up! Now at first, i was a bit disappointed because i mean i have read that scripture over and over but, is there more to David playing the harp??

Buckle up people, some Truth is about to hit your spirit!

14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

16 Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

17 And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him.

19 Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.

20 And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

21 And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.

22 And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.

23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Are you playing the harp for the King? If Yes, Are you Playing it as you should?  First things first, the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord comes upon him, this was God's way of preparing a table for David. No? Let me ask you something, why does Saul's servant speak of finding a man who can play the harp and not a man to come lay hands on Saul? God used that servant in favor of David "..to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well."

Have you noticed how another servant describes David? ".. I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him" Even the servants recognized of the Favor upon David's life.

Saul then summons David to the palace. Test one, Discernment. Catch this, Jesse, understood it wasn't about the "palace" but the Voice that called and because he had a deeper revelation of the Voice he made sure that David would pass the second test. Favor will want to know how you show up!! And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul... David showed up with gifts! Does Jesse remind you of your mum? In the African mum books, you are simply not allowed to visit your neighbor empty handed!

Now let's see how you show up to the palace; Highest chances are you will show up late murmuring how you had to be up so early, and your murmurs will go a higher notch if you have to wait for more than 60 seconds.

David was already anointed for greatness right? So now here is David making his appearance and he has come with gifts,  stands before the King, and then verse 21 happens, "...stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer." The way you appear before King Saul matters! How you stand before Saul determines your rank or title - For David he immediately became an Armour Bearer!! His appearance caused him more favor. As long as you regard King Saul lightly, the favor you experience will be as light.

Someone else is playing the harp for the King because when the king called, you did not answer with honor, others have refused to respond to the king and all your focus is on the palace!

...oh foolish galatians

So you are now in the kings palace and all you got to do is play the harp. You have found Favor in the King's eyes and now Favor is waiting and watching closely to test you!

And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

David played the harp too well that King Saul was always refreshed. And i wondered what was the secret to David's harp? I will tell you in a minute But First;

When you are in the Palace:

Don't start teaching music and forget why you are in the presence of King Saul. The sole purpose why David was in the Palace at that particular time was to play the harp until the evil spirit left. Distractions in the palace will cost you greatly! God has anointed you for a specific task in the palace, now if you start serving food and you have no mastery in the art of fine dining etiquette, you will break every utensil and King Saul will have nothing to do with you. Stop trying to be the master of everything! Stick to your harp, train for it every day and grow in it to the extent where King Saul no longer feels refreshed but ecstatic. Go an extra mile for the king

God favors you before men so that you can serve more and with a revelation! How you serve determines how long you will be in the Palace. And, you can not go from palace to ordinary, we grow from Glory to Glory not Glory to Grass but it all depends with you my friend. SERVE

The secret to David's harp was His heart. He had the heart of a servant, a heart of great humility and holiness - he was not doing it to be recognized but as unto the Lord. Remember, David being a shepherd boy to the King's Armourbearer was a great avenue for him to be very proud but he remained a servant. Some of us are not yet in the palace because the Pride in our heart's God can't even deal. You can not be humble! The servants in the palace don't even know you!

Be Faithful and REMAIN faithful. As long as David's heart remained submitted, and pure the angel of Favor bestowed more. I can almost bet every day he played God's Heart through that harp.

Did you know, Harps often are associated with angels and other divine beings? A harp has to be positioned the right way and played with great passion to produce heavenly rewards.

Corrupt vessels cannot serve King's because you might end up abusing the King!

How's your Heart? Another thing, Are you in the right palace? David's don't play harps for Samuel's, No! They play for Saul's!!! Esthers don't submit to Modecai when it concerns the king No! They submit to the Eunuch!

Also,

Are you playing your harp or someone else's? The thing about other people's harps, they don't quite fit!
